Canon EOS 550D ได้เปิดตัวมาประมาณวันที่ 8 กุมภาพันธ์ 2010 ส่วน Canon EOS 600D เปิดตัววันที่ 31 มีนาคม 2011 และ Canon EOS 60D เปิดตัววันนี้ 10 พฤศจิกายน 2010 ซึ่งถือได้ว่า Canon EOS 600D เป็นกล้องที่เปิดตัวมารุ่นใหม่มาสุด ซึ่งกล้อง Canon EOS 600D ท่าจะว่าไปแล้วได้มีการเอาฟีเจอร์ของ Canon EOS 60D และ Canon EOS 7D มาผสมรวมกันแล้วลดความสามารถบางอย่างลง ส่วน Canon EOS 550D กับ Canon EOS 600D ก็มีฟีเจอร์ที่แตกต่างกันพอสมควร
Canon EOS 550D, Canon EOS 600D และ Canon EOS 60D เป็นกล้องที่มีความละเอียดในการถ่ายภาพที่ 18 ล้านพิกเซล ซึ่งถือได้ว่าทำความละเอียดได้เท่ากันรวมถึงขนาดภาพด้วยที่ 5184 x 3456 พิกเซล
ทั้ง Canon EOS 550D, Canon EOS 600D และ Canon EOS 60D รองรับสื่อบันทึกข้อมูล SD, SDHC และ SDXC

ในส่วนของการวัดแสง Canon EOS 550D, Canon EOS 600D และ Canon EOS 60D มีการวัดแสงแบบ 63-zone TTL เหมือนกัน แต่ต่างกันเล็กน้อย โดย EOS 600D และ EOS 550D ส่วนของการวัดแสงแบบ Partial จะคิดที่ประมาณ 9% จากส่วนกลางภาพ และ Spot จะคิดที่ประมาณ 4% จากกลางภาพ แต่ทาง EOS 60D ส่วนของการวัดแสง Partial จะคิดที่ประมาณ 6.5% จากกลางภาพ, แบบ Spot จะคิดที่ประมาณ 2.8% จากกลางภาพ
